The company is putting its own energy work forward as an example. A solar array at its Isle of Man Business Park office has been running since 2022 and covers about half of the site's electricity needs, and battery storage was added this year to capture excess generation for later use. Zurich says the goal is to cover all of its electricity use on the island by 2030. The company also points to a wider set of measures, including interest-free loans for employees making home energy-efficiency upgrades, a reduction in water, plastic, and paper use, and smart building controls that track temperature, humidity, and air quality. The award is meant to encourage other local businesses and organizations working on environmental initiatives. The ceremony takes place on November 19 at the Villa Marina.

Good to see a sponsor with actual local projects behind it. The solar array covers about half of Zurich's Isle of Man electricity use and they added battery storage this year. The 2030 self-sufficiency target is the interesting part. It depends on how much more generation and storage they actually build.
