ZPMC Launches Smart Manufacturing Workshop in Nantong, Cuts Carbon Emissions 10% and Scrap by 1,000 Tonnes

Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) has opened a digital and intelligent structural fabrication workshop in Nantong, Jiangsu. The facility uses automated welding, laser cutting, and smart overhead cranes to produce structural components for port machinery and offshore equipment. The company says the workshop cuts carbon emissions per unit of output by 10%, reduces scrap by more than 1,000 tonnes annually, and shortens production cycles from 30 to 18 days. The workshop is part of ZPMC's push toward zero-carbon and intelligent manufacturing. Robotic welding coverage reaches 84%, and monthly capacity is up 30%. ZPMC also unveiled 20 new products, including a green low-carbon gear reducer and a next-generation jacking system. The company signed project agreements with six firms and research partnerships with three universities, signaling its intent to scale these technologies across the industry.
