ZIPAIR Tokyo has launched a decarbonization collaboration with four partners: Narita International Airport Corporation, ACT Solutions Japan, BSI Group Japan, and Sojitz. The airline began operating a Boeing 787-8 with special livery featuring the partners' logos, and will use in-flight entertainment to showcase their environmental initiatives. The aircraft's inaugural flight was from Narita to Singapore on September 28, and it will fly across all ZIPAIR routes for about three months. The airline previously became the first in the world to receive ISO 14068-1:2023 carbon neutrality certification for its passenger services in fiscal 2023, achieved by offsetting emissions with carbon credits. However, ZIPAIR's president emphasized that offsets are not the end goal, stating the airline aims to reduce emissions as close to zero as possible through its own efforts. The partnership is designed to combine expertise across different industries to tackle aviation's decarbonization challenges, though the specifics of each partner's role remain broad.
