Zin Boats Z-11 Proton: All-Carbon Fiber Electric Tender for Superyachts
globaldesignnews.comZin Boats has introduced the Z-11 Proton, described as the world's first production all-carbon fiber electric yacht tender. The 11.6-meter vessel is built for a hydrogen-powered superyacht, using a 400kWh battery pack and twin 600kW motors to reach 55 knots. The hull is a single contiguous piece of carbon fiber, and a folding hardtop includes a solar panel for auxiliary systems. It won a 2025 Good Design Award. Beyond the specs, the Z-11 matters for marine decarbonization because it pairs high performance with zero emissions at the point of use. Eliminating hydraulic systems also removes oil from the equation, cutting maintenance and environmental risk. The solar panel on the hardtop extends range, though the tender itself still depends on the mothership's charging source. This is a niche product for superyachts, but it shows how electric propulsion and lightweight materials can push performance boundaries in marine applications.
