ZeroCO2, an Italian B Corp, has raised 1 million euros from NTT Data Italia and CDP Venture Capital to accelerate development of Selva, its digital MRV platform for carbon credits. Selva uses AI and satellite imagery to continuously monitor forest areas, cutting certification times by 70 percent and reducing costs. The platform aims to make carbon credit verification more transparent and accessible, with up to 50 percent of revenue from credit sales going directly to farming communities in the Global South. The funding round includes NTT Data Italia as the technology partner building Selva's backend and AI carbon accounting engine, and CDP Venture Capital through its StyleIT program. ZeroCO2 has planted over two million trees across three continents and works with 600 client companies. The company is shifting from project developer to an end-to-end operator for high-integrity carbon credits, using Selva to replace traditional statistical sampling with continuous monitoring. The article claims a 70 percent reduction in certification times and lower costs, which if true could help smaller projects access the voluntary carbon market.
