The market for zero carbon methanol is expanding as shipping and heavy industry seek scalable alternatives to fossil fuels. By combining green hydrogen with captured carbon, this fuel provides a circular pathway to decarbonize sectors where direct electrification is not technically feasible. Growth is currently driven by tighter international emissions regulations and corporate net-zero commitments. While production costs remain a challenge, improvements in electrolyzer efficiency and carbon pricing mechanisms are helping green methanol become more competitive against traditional fuels.
