Zero Carbon Charge has deployed new solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations along South Africa's N3 highway. These stations operate entirely off-grid, utilizing a combination of solar farms and 645kWh battery storage systems to provide fast DC charging without relying on the national power grid. To ensure reliability during low sunlight or emergencies, the sites include biodiesel generators. This infrastructure supports the growing EV market in South Africa, with plans to expand to a network of 120 charging locations nationwide to enable long-distance electric travel.
