Zefiro Methane Corp., a North American environmental services company focused on methane abatement and plugging orphaned oil and gas wells, has started operations in Indiana and Michigan. The Indiana project, worth about US$750,000, is the company's first carbon sequestration well, drilled into a suitable storage reservoir. The Michigan project is an emergency response worth roughly US$500,000, addressing hydrogen sulfide flowing to the surface, which requires specialized safety equipment. The expansion follows the company's May 2026 acquisition of Viking Well Service equipment, which provided the rigs and crews for these new projects. Zefiro sees carbon sequestration as a natural extension of its existing downhole expertise, and the high-value emergency response work highlights the demand for operators trained to handle hazardous conditions. These projects mark Zefiro's entry into two new states and a new service category, broadening its revenue base beyond traditional well plugging.
