Zanzibar's government has approved a plan to replace all fuel-powered government vehicles with electric vehicles. Deputy Minister for Works and Transport Bandria Masoud announced the transition during a visit to Arusha Technical College. The shift begins with electric public buses currently in pilot trials, with a gradual rollout to the entire government fleet expected soon. The government is also investing in driver training for electric vehicle operation and maintenance. Arusha Technical College has updated its curriculum to include electric vehicle technology after a partnership with Toyota in Japan. Smart traffic cameras are being introduced to improve road safety alongside the fleet transition.
