Zambia has commissioned the 136 MW Itimpi II solar plant, funded by a 200 million dollar green bond. This project is part of a broader strategy to reach 500 MW of solar capacity by 2027 and reduce the country's heavy reliance on hydroelectric power. To further accelerate growth, Zambia introduced a 300 MW solar and storage tender featuring a Carbon Feed-In Premium (CFIP). Backed by Norway, this scheme uses carbon credit revenue streams to lower investment risks for developers over a ten year period.
