Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable (YOFC) reports a 13.12% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions intensity for 2025. The company achieved this through its SmartCarbon tracking platform and a shift toward green electricity, cutting total emissions by over 86,000 tonnes. Beyond operational cuts, YOFC is developing hollow-core optical fiber to lower the energy requirements of AI workloads. The company aims for a 50% reduction in emissions intensity by 2028 and full carbon neutrality by 2055.

Industrial efficiency gains are good, but I want to see the cost of deploying that hollow core fiber. If the installation cost is too high, the energy savings won't matter to the operators.
