Taiwan's Yieh Phui Enterprise plans to spend NT$804 million, about $25.4 million, to subscribe to 134 million private placement shares of Yieh United Steel at NT$6 per share. The purchase will lift Yieh Phui's direct stake in the upstream steelmaker from 34.05% to 35.46%. The placement funds are earmarked for energy-efficient electric arc furnaces, hot and cold rolling line upgrades, automation, higher value-added products, expanded carbon steel capacity, and increased use of green energy. Yieh Phui says the work will help Yieh United supply hot-rolled steel coil with the surface quality and coating adhesion needed for its high-end painted products, while also reducing the carbon footprint of the steel supply chain. Yieh Phui also expects the capital to improve Yieh United's financial structure and lower interest costs. The investment links upstream steel production with downstream coated steel demand at a time when Taiwanese steelmakers are under pressure to cut emissions and move toward lower-carbon products.
