Yara International signed a marketing and distribution agreement with Air Products for renewable ammonia from the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in late June 2026. At the same time, Yara walked away from acquiring ammonia assets in the Louisiana Clean Energy Complex because the expected returns did not meet its investment criteria. The combination shows Yara prioritizing low-carbon ammonia volumes through its existing supply chain while avoiding lower-return blue ammonia projects. The NEOM deal connects Yara's global distribution network with large scale renewable ammonia output. The LCEC exit reinforces that Yara is not chasing every clean ammonia project that comes along. The question is whether this discipline translates into better margins and execution on the Heroya renewable hydrogen initiatives. For investors tracking the low-carbon ammonia space, this is a concrete signal that Yara is picking its spots rather than betting on every project.
