Yamaha Motor to Use Recycled Aluminum in DiASil Cylinders, Targeting 47,000 Ton Annual CO2 Cut by 2030
global.yamaha-motor.comYamaha Motor is switching its proprietary DiASil cylinders from virgin aluminum to a newly developed recycled aluminum alloy. The company says the move will cut CO2 emissions by roughly 47,000 tons per year once fully applied across all DiASil products, targeted for 2030. DiASil is Yamaha's all-aluminum cylinder design used in motorcycles and scooters, known for requiring no iron sleeve or plating. Recycled aluminum usually carries trace impurities that can hurt the metal's structure, so Yamaha used thermodynamic calculations and repeated bench testing to develop an alloy that meets the same quality standards as virgin material. The change starts with commuter models made in Indonesia, then expands globally. This is part of Yamaha's goal to source 100% sustainable aluminum for its own manufacturing by 2030.
