XtalPi and Fangda Carbon Put AI Model for Graphite Electrode Manufacturing Into Production
prnewswire.comXtalPi and Fangda Carbon have put a predictive AI model into production for graphite electrode manufacturing. The model evaluates raw material blends and ranks formulation candidates before physical trials, with the goal of cutting costs and making it easier to substitute inputs when prices or supply shift. Graphite electrodes are used in electric arc furnace steelmaking, so the work touches an important low-carbon steel production route. The system was built using Fangda Carbon's manufacturing data and XtalPi's AI and data engineering tools. It passed acceptance testing and is now part of Fangda Carbon's workflow. Final formulations still go through expert review and experimental validation, so the AI narrows the search space instead of replacing human judgment. XtalPi plans to apply the same approach to other advanced carbon materials like graphene and carbon nanotubes. The near-term impact is likely to be measured in procurement flexibility and material efficiency, with any emissions benefit coming indirectly through smoother EAF operations.
