Xpansiv launches NEPOOL nuclear credit trading as AI demand drives clean power market growth
carboncredits.comXpansiv has started trading NEPOOL Emission-Free Energy Certificates on its CBL spot exchange, expanding its nuclear credit market alongside existing PJM EFECs and RECs. The platform already supports over 25 GW of nuclear generation, roughly one quarter of U.S. nuclear capacity, and tracks more than 90 GW of renewables across North America. Growing electricity demand from AI data centers, cloud computing, and EVs is driving interest in 24/7 carbon-free power. The IEA expects data center electricity use to more than double by 2030 to around 945 TWh per year. Nuclear certificates let companies verify they are using emission-free baseload electricity, making them increasingly valuable as grids face pressure to both expand and decarbonize.
