XFuel has received a €4.1 million grant from Catalonia's Nuclear Transition Fund to build a modular fuel production facility. The plant will process 16,000 tonnes of marine waste oils into 14,000 tonnes of low-carbon marine gas oil, targeting emissions reductions in the shipping sector. The project utilizes proprietary Chemical Liquid Refining (CLR) technology to create drop-in transport fuels. This facility is part of a regional effort to regenerate communities affected by the planned closure of the Ascó and Vandellós nuclear power plants.
