XFuel Secures 4.1 Million Euro Grant for Low-Carbon Marine Fuel Plant in Catalonia

XFuel is building a modular production facility in Catalonia to convert 16,000 tonnes of marine waste oils into 14,000 tonnes of low-carbon marine gas oil. The project is funded by a 4.1 million euro grant from Catalonia's Nuclear Transition Fund, aimed at regenerating communities near closing nuclear plants. The facility uses proprietary Chemical Liquid Refining technology to create drop-in fuels that require no engine modifications. By locating the plant near major ports like Barcelona and Valencia, XFuel intends to reduce transport emissions while providing a scalable decarbonization path for the shipping industry.
