Wärtsilä has joined the EU-funded H4PERION consortium to accelerate the transition to zero-carbon shipping for long-distance vessels. Led by the University of Vaasa, this four-year Horizon Europe project focuses on developing new solutions to increase engine efficiency and cut greenhouse gas emissions. The initiative aims to create practical technical pathways for the maritime industry to move away from fossil fuels. By demonstrating advanced engine technologies, the consortium seeks to make sustainable long-haul shipping commercially viable.
