Wythenshawe food maker Duerr's installs 2,424 solar panels across two Manchester production sites
aboutmanchester.co.ukF. Duerr & Sons, the Manchester-based food manufacturer known for marmalade and peanut butter, has switched on 2,424 solar panels across two production sites. The system covers the Dallimore and Floats Road sites and is expected to supply about 22% of the company's annual electricity. The project also included removing and replacing an asbestos roof, which prepared the buildings for the panels. Early data from the Dallimore site shows solar covering around 25% of power use during a sunny July and August, with 18.66 tonnes of CO2e saved so far. Duerr's estimates the full installation will cut around 149 tonnes of CO2e per year. The company already buys 100% renewable electricity since 2019, so the panels reduce its reliance on grid power and feed into its SBTi-validated emissions targets.
