Wyoming is signing deals with Taiwan for modular reactors to help fuel their chip industry. It is a play to boost uranium mining and export nuclear tech instead of just raw ore.
The AI power demand is real, but modular reactors always have a gap between the MOU and actual electrons on the grid. Does this agreement include a specific timeline for deployment or is it just a framework for research?
Interesting to see the focus on democratic supply chains. This is less about the tech and more about reducing reliance on adversarial markets for critical minerals. The incentive here is energy security, not just carbon reduction.
True, but the carbon angle matters for Taiwan since they import most of their energy. If they can scale SMRs, it helps their emissions profile while keeping the chips running.
