Leading Edge Materials announced that testing on ore from its Woxna Graphite Mine in Sweden produced a concentrate with 99.96% purity using a two-stage alkaline process without energy-intensive preheating. The flotation step retained over 50% of particles as large flakes at 94% carbon purity, a strong result for premium graphite applications. The tests used historical stockpiled material that showed signs of oxidation, which typically reduces flotation performance. The company expects fresh ore to yield even better results. With global demand for natural flake graphite forecast to more than double by 2035 and a supply deficit emerging in battery-grade material, Woxna is positioned as one of the few European assets capable of supplying a domestic, responsibly sourced graphite supply chain.
