Worthing Heat Network Expansion Secures £8m for Air Source Heat Pumps and Hospital Connection
sussexexpress.co.ukWorthing's district heat network is getting £8 million from the Heat Network Investment Project to expand and add air source heat pumps at its energy centre. Developer Hemiko will use part of the money for lower impact construction methods as the network grows. Worthing Hospital is already connected, with Splashpoint Leisure Centre and the Pavilion Theatre expected to join in early 2027. The expansion supports Adur and Worthing councils' plan to cut emissions from their buildings. The latest carbon management report says the network has let them remove life-expired gas boilers, though five council buildings in Worthing and seven in Adur still run on gas. Overall council emissions have fallen 54.25% since 2019/20, and the councils aim to be carbon neutral by 2030. The report goes to the joint strategic committee on October 6.
