The eFoiler system has been in service for over four years on other vessels, so the core tech is not new. The question is how much battery capacity it carries and how fast it can recharge between trips. Pilot boats run frequent short hops. If turnaround charging is slow, the utilization drops.

The active flight control system for stability in varying conditions is interesting. If it works reliably in rough seas, that removes a big operational risk. Otherwise ports will keep a diesel backup anyway, which kills the carbon math.
