A new World Bank Group report shows that direct carbon pricing now covers nearly one third of global emissions. This represents a significant expansion of market based climate policy across different jurisdictions. Government revenues from these carbon pricing mechanisms have grown rapidly, increasing from under $30 billion in 2016 to over $107 billion in 2025. This funding provides a critical resource for public budgets to manage the transition to low carbon economies.
