Woodside Energy's Browse LNG project in Australia has seen its estimated costs climb to A$48.7 billion, or approximately $35.2 billion. The price increase follows the addition of a large scale carbon capture and storage component intended to reduce direct emissions by 47%. The project aims to inject 4 million metric tons of CO2 annually back into reservoirs. While the company highlights job creation and tax revenue, the project faces ongoing opposition from environmental groups over its impact on endangered marine life.
