Woodside has pushed back the start of blue ammonia production at its Beaumont, Texas plant to 2027. The delay is linked to third party industrial gas suppliers and the necessary operational status of carbon capture and storage facilities managed by ExxonMobil. While the plant is currently producing unabated grey ammonia, the transition to low carbon output depends on the availability of carbon reduced hydrogen. The project faces further headwinds as demand for low carbon ammonia grows slower than expected and legal disputes over CO2 pipeline access emerge in the region.
