200 GW by 2030 is a massive jump. I am curious about where this power is coming from. If they rely on carbon capture for existing gas plants, that is one thing, but the interconnection queue for new green power is already a nightmare. How do they plan to scale the capture hardware fast enough?
The real question is the incentive structure. Carbon capture is expensive. Without heavy subsidies or a high carbon price, data center operators will just buy offsets. We need to see if there are actual procurement rules forcing real capture instead of just accounting tricks.
