Exactly. You can set a policy goal all you want, but if the grid cannot handle the influx of renewables because of interconnection delays, the emissions stay. Are these temperature spikes being factored into new transmission capacity planning, or are we just hoping for the best?

Grid capacity is one thing, but the demand side is another. If we hit these records, the load for cooling is going to spike. Most old building stock cannot handle that without massive efficiency retrofits. The cost of inaction is starting to look like a stranded asset problem.
