Wizz Air achieves record low carbon emissions intensity of 50.6 g CO2 per RPK in FY2026
cyprus-mail.comWizz Air reported its lowest ever carbon emissions intensity at 50.6 grams of CO2 per revenue passenger kilometer for fiscal year 2026, a 3% improvement year on year. The budget airline credits its young fleet of 262 aircraft, average age 4.57 years, with 75% being new generation Airbus A320neo family planes, for the efficiency gain. The airline used over 27,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel during the year, complying with EU ReFuelEU Aviation rules. However, it notes that limited SAF availability and high costs remain barriers to faster decarbonization, making operational efficiency the core of its strategy. Wizz Air also expanded its workforce by 2,775 employees during FY26. The company says its focus is on maintaining a cost efficient model while pragmatically contributing to long term aviation decarbonization.
