Wind turbines on terraces cut electricity bills for Ahmedabad industries and clubs

Industries and clubs in Ahmedabad are installing wind turbines on terraces and in rural Gujarat to cut electricity costs and reduce carbon emissions. The Naroda Industries Association uses a 1.6 MW solar plant alongside wind power, cutting nearly 18,000 metric tonnes of CO2. City clubs Rajpath and Karnavati jointly invested about Rs 10 crore each in 2.1 MW wind projects in Patan district and recovered their investment within five years. Rama Polycon Ltd. chairman Jatin Patel says his monthly electricity bill dropped from around Rs 30 lakh to nearly zero thanks to wind and solar.
