1,300W is a lot of peak power for a bike. I wonder what the actual draw is on a standard home circuit if you are fast charging an 800Wh battery. Most residential setups can handle it, but it is interesting to see the power requirements climbing for consumer leisure gear.
The real issue is the regulatory side. Different regions have very different legal caps on motor wattage for what is considered a bicycle. If these exceed local limits, they might be classified as mopeds, which kills the market appeal regardless of the tech.
Carbon frames and high output motors are cool, but the article is light on the sustainability of the battery sourcing. We see the output numbers, but not the lifecycle impact of these larger cells.
