Whittlebury Park invests £4m in solar to cut grid reliance and move toward carbon neutrality
northamptonchron.co.ukWhittlebury Park in Northamptonshire has started a renewable energy programme with a £174,000 first phase that puts a 231kWp solar system on the roof of The Atrium. The array is expected to generate enough electricity to power around 80 homes and cut the resort's carbon emissions by an estimated 80 tonnes per year. Work began in September, with commissioning scheduled for late October and LCS Energy delivering the project. The larger plan involves a further £4 million solar installation, part of the resort's goal to generate almost all of its own electricity and reduce dependence on the National Grid. The project is a concrete example of a commercial site using on-site generation to lower both emissions and long-term energy costs.
