Westfalia Fruit Sustainability Strategy: 58% Renewable Electricity, Carbon Baselines, and Water Projects
perishablenews.comWestfalia Fruit, a major avocado grower and supplier, published an updated sustainability strategy focused on water, carbon, waste, and biodiversity. The company says renewable electricity across its operations rose from 18% in 2021 to 58% in 2025, reaching 34,653 MWh, with a roughly 50% cut in Scope 2 emissions over that period. Several packhouses in the UK, Peru, Chile, the US, and France now run on 100% renewable electricity, using a mix of on-site solar and purchased certificates like I-RECs and Guarantees of Origin. The company also started measuring carbon stored in trees and soil on eight farms in Chile, Peru, and South Africa with One Carbon World, and it is part of the WAVE Aconcagua Collective Action Project in Chile, which works with 15 producers and local groups on water scarcity and soil health. Westfalia Fruit has set a group-wide Net Zero target for 2049. The strategy includes roadmaps for each business unit, but details on waste and biodiversity targets are still thin in this announcement.
