Westfalia Fruit Sustainability Strategy 2025: 58% Renewable Electricity, Scope 2 Cut, Net Zero by 2049
asiafoodjournal.comWestfalia Fruit, an international avocado grower and packer, has released an updated sustainability strategy focused on water, carbon, waste, and biodiversity. The company says renewable electricity use across its operations rose from 18% in 2021 to 58% in 2025, helping cut Scope 2 emissions by about 50%. Packhouses in the UK, Peru, Chile, the US, and France now run on 100% renewable electricity, using a mix of on-site solar and certified instruments such as I-RECs and Guarantees of Origin. The company is also measuring carbon stored in trees and soil on eight farms in Chile, Peru, and South Africa with One Carbon World, and it participates in the WAVE Aconcagua Collective Action Project in Chile, a multi-stakeholder effort on water scarcity and soil health. Westfalia Fruit has set a long-term target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2049, with each business unit building its own roadmap for carbon, water, waste, and biodiversity.
