Low Carbon has announced early plans for the West Oxfordshire Energy Park, a 500-megawatt solar project with battery storage near Langford and Little Faringdon. The company says it could generate enough electricity for 145,000 homes and avoid 154,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. The project is still in early consultation, with a public hearing expected in early 2027. Because the capacity exceeds 100MW, it will go through the NSIP process and require a Development Consent Order. Low Carbon recently received consent for its Beacon Fen Energy Park, so it has experience with this route. The final decision rests with the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
