West Cumbria sustainable aviation fuel plant: 150 jobs, 42,000 tonnes from captured CO2
cumbriacrack.comCarbon Neutral Fuels is proposing a sustainable aviation fuel plant on the former Eastman Chemical site in Workington, West Cumbria. The project, called Project Starling, would produce about 42,000 tonnes of fuel a year using captured carbon dioxide and recycled wastewater. It aims to create 150 full-time jobs and support 500 construction roles, with an opening date of 2031. The company has signed a Planning Performance Agreement with Cumberland Council and secured £6 million in government funding. A community drop-in event will be held on October 15 at Cumbria Youth Alliance on James Street, Workington, from 3.30pm to 7pm, where residents can review plans and ask questions. The proposal is still at an early stage, and public feedback will help shape the final planning application.
