Waymo announced plans to launch its all-electric autonomous ride-hailing service in Singapore by 2028, in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Authority. The company will begin with a fleet of Jaguar I-PACE vehicles, then run a manual readiness phase in 2027 to adapt the Waymo Driver to local roads and monsoon weather before opening the service to riders. Waymo says its fleet prevents an estimated 480 metric tonnes of CO2 per week from road travel and that its US operations show a 94% reduction in injury-causing crashes compared to human drivers. The service is designed to complement Singapore's public transit network, with a focus on first and last mile connections. The announcement follows expansion into Tokyo, London, and Munich, and comes after 20 million fully autonomous rides and 300 million autonomous kilometres.
