Wasabi Impact Circle lets cloud partners track storage emissions and buy carbon credits
channellife.co.ukWasabi has launched Impact Circle, a program that lets its partners and managed service providers measure the emissions from customers' cloud storage and purchase carbon credits to offset them. The service was built with Zero Circle, which sources and vets the credits across portfolios that range from simple verified projects to newer carbon removal approaches. Users access it through Wasabi's Account Control Manager, tying emissions tracking directly to billing and account management. The launch comes as cloud providers face more pressure to quantify the environmental impact of data infrastructure, especially as AI workloads drive up storage and processing demand. Wasabi's research shows sustainability is now a major factor in procurement decisions for cloud storage. For MSPs, the tool offers a clearer line between customer usage and emissions reporting, though the quality and impact of carbon credits remain a point of debate in the wider market. The program builds on an existing partnership between Wasabi and Zero Circle that already included an invoice-based emissions calculator. Impact Circle extends that by giving partners a way to act on the estimates through credit purchases. Neither company disclosed financial terms or set specific emissions reduction targets tied to the scheme.
