Warwick district hands over first green council homes with solar and heat pumps
leamingtonobserver.co.ukWarwick District Council has taken keys to its first green council homes, a 20-property scheme on Taylor Wimpey's Tournament Fields development. The homes range from one-bedroom maisonettes to four-bedroom family houses and will be offered through social rent, affordable rent, or shared ownership via the HomeChoice register. Handover will happen in phases over the next six months. The development is the first to meet the council's Net Zero Carbon Development standard. All homes include photovoltaic solar panels and air source heat pumps, which the council says support its 'low cost, low carbon' ambitions. Council officials frame the project as evidence that affordable housing and climate action can be delivered together, with the mix of tenures aimed at responding to local housing need.
