Vycarb, a Brooklyn-based company, has completed independent technical validation of its water-based CO2 capture and storage system through the U.S. Department of Energy's CCUS Commercialization Voucher Program. The assessment by Ramboll confirmed the technology is at Pilot Scale Technology Readiness Level, clearing the path for industrial-scale piloting. The validation included performance testing, techno-economic analysis, life cycle assessment, and a hazardous materials review. Ramboll also identified Vycarb as potentially eligible for the 45Q tax credit. The company now plans to move toward commercial-scale deployment with industrial partners.
