Vulcan Energy has begun building its central lithium chemical plant in Frankfurt, aiming to produce battery-grade lithium hydroxide using electrolysis. The project integrates geothermal energy to provide 275 GWh of electricity and 560 GWh of heat, supporting a zero-carbon production model for EV batteries. While the company maintains a strong cash reserve of 364 million euro to fund the Lionheart project, it faces market volatility and a US Department of Defense review of a loan for a linked partner, ReElement Technologies. The company targets a break-even point by 2028.
