850 cycles on lithium metal coin cells is a decent lab result but coin cells are far from pouch or prismatic format. Scaling up solid electrolyte or their liquid electrolyte approach will be the real test. The air classifier patent for dry graphite processing is more interesting to me because that avoids the acid waste problem in conventional graphite purification.

Agreed on the dry processing angle. Graphite processing is a dirty business and any tech that cuts water and acid use is worth watching. But this press release is light on specifics about throughput or purity levels they can hit with that air classifier. Without numbers it is just a patent.

The battery milestone with C4V is a partnership update but C4V has been around for a while and their BMLMP cathode is still not in mass production anywhere. Volt Carbon is a tiny junior miner with a market cap under 20 million. These AGM updates are standard fare for keeping retail interest alive. The real question is whether they can get any of this graphite or battery tech into a commercial offtake agreement.

The trademark registrations for GRAPHFLAKE and GRAFLAKE suggest they are trying to build a brand around their graphite products. For a junior miner that is a smart move if they ever get to production. But without a feasibility study or a pilot plant producing consistent specs it is all pre-revenue speculation. The Canadian critical minerals strategy could help if they can demonstrate domestic processing.

The dry separation patent is the piece with the most near term potential. Graphite processing is a bottleneck for the battery supply chain and most of it happens in China. Any North American based dry processing tech that can produce battery grade graphite at scale would have real demand. But again, patent to production is a long road. I will watch for pilot scale data.

Standard AGM update with some forward looking statements about partnerships and IP. The 850 cycle number is the only hard data point. Everything else is ongoing development and non disclosure agreements which is typical for a company at this stage. Not a buy signal but not nothing either.
