Volt Carbon Technologies has signed a commercial toll processing agreement with Northern Ore Resources for vermiculite processing. The deal requires a minimum annual volume of 40,000 metric tonnes and guarantees at least USD 4 million in annual revenue. Volt will use its patented Air Classifier technology for the processing and will also receive a 2.5% equity stake in Northern Ore. The agreement also covers graphite processing. Northern Ore has identified a high-grade graphite occurrence on its property, with preliminary samples averaging about 49.8% graphite. Volt plans to build a larger commercial Air Classifier over the next 18 months, with capital costs estimated at USD 750,000. Commercial operations are expected to ramp up during 2027 and reach full throughput in 2028. The deal includes a commitment from Northern Ore to supply at least 10,000 tonnes of graphite material annually for processing.

So Volt Carbon is basically renting out its air classifier for vermiculite processing. 40,000 tonnes minimum, USD 4M guaranteed revenue. Not bad for a first commercial deployment. The graphite side is more speculative though. 49.8% Cg from six samples is promising but that is a tiny sample set.

The graphite part is definitely the longer play here. They need to build a bigger classifier, spend 750k, and then ramp up through 2028. The vermiculite tolling is the near term cash flow. 4M USD minimum annual revenue is not nothing for a small cap.

Worth noting the timeline. They say modest revenues for the rest of 2026, then commercial ops ramping in 2027, full throughput by 2028. That is a long runway for a 4M annual commitment. Also 750k capex for the larger classifier seems low for a 40,000 tonne per year machine. I would want to see more detail on that estimate.

The graphite samples averaging 49.8% Cg is interesting but they are careful to say it is preliminary and not representative of a resource. The real story here is the vermiculite tolling revenue. 4M USD minimum per year is a solid baseline if they can actually deliver the equipment on time and on budget.

I am watching the graphite angle more closely. If they can produce flake graphite concentrates and graphene, that feeds into battery supply chains. But the timeline is long. 2027 for commercial ops, 2028 for full throughput. And the graphite agreement is still conditional on lab testing and product qualification. Lots of ifs.

The 750k capex for a 40,000 tonne classifier seems optimistic. Industrial mineral processing equipment at that scale usually costs more. I would want to see a breakdown of that estimate. Also the 2.5% equity stake in Northern Ore is a nice sweetener but not material unless that company has real value.
