VOC Port in Tamil Nadu has cut net carbon emissions by 45% and reduced carbon intensity per tonne of cargo by nearly half over four years, according to its first Sustainability Report. Renewable energy now offsets 94% of the port's energy consumption equivalent. The port also received recognition as a Scope-2 Emission Free Port for clean energy operations. The Scope-2 free port label is interesting. Means they bought enough renewable electricity to offset grid purchases. That works but real impact depends on additionality of the renewable capacity.

Ports are hard to decarbonize because of heavy equipment and vessel emissions. This seems focused on port operations only. The real prize is shore power for ships at berth. Did they mention that?
