VMS Co. cuts carbon emissions by over 70% using refurbished CCTV and analytics servers
securityjournaluk.comVMS Co. reports that its Managed On-Site Servers (MOSS), built with renewed Dell ICT hardware, reduce carbon emissions by more than 70% compared to deploying new servers. The company positions these servers under the UK government's new carbon avoidance category, meaning customers avoid the embodied carbon footprint from manufacturing new units. Nick Bowden, managing director of VMS Co., states that new servers carry a baseline product carbon footprint from manufacture. By using MOSS servers instead, organizations avoid additional PCF allocations. He notes that indicative carbon avoidance figures show a 70% emissions reduction versus just 4% through recycling. The servers come with a seven-year warranty and are aimed at helping businesses meet net zero targets and ESG reporting requirements.
