VisitScotland launches free carbon calculator to help tourism businesses cut emissions
thenational.scotVisitScotland has launched a free carbon calculator to help tourism and events businesses measure their emissions and create climate action plans. The tool, developed by UK sustainability body isla through its TRACE platform, is part of the national tourism body's Climate Action Accelerator programme. The six-week initiative also aims to help businesses cut costs by identifying efficiency improvements. The programme is available to all Scottish tourism and events businesses through VisitScotland's Business Support Hub. Businesses that join the Climate Action Accelerator get extra guidance on turning results into action. Scotland joins Ireland, the Netherlands, Finland, and the Canary Islands in using destination-led carbon measurement for the sector. The launch comes as tourism businesses face pressure to reduce their environmental impact. VisitScotland says the tool will reinforce Scotland's reputation as a sustainable destination, while also helping firms become more efficient and resilient. The article does not yet include data on expected emissions reductions or cost savings.
