Virgin Media O2 aims to double refurbished device sales by 2030 as part of Green Transition Plan to cut emissions

Virgin Media O2 has announced a Green Transition Plan that targets doubling the number of refurbished device sales by 2030. The company also aims to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% and Scope 3 emissions by 50% compared to its 2020 baseline, with a net zero target across its entire value chain by 2040. The plan includes expanding device reuse programs to 30 cities and sourcing 100% carbon-free energy from UK sources. The operator has already reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 63% since 2020. Key initiatives include working with suppliers to cut waste, improving energy efficiency of customer equipment, and investing in climate-resilient broadband and mobile infrastructure. The company stresses that collaboration with government is needed to further decarbonize the UK grid and support commercial fleet electrification.
