Vioneo to Build World's First Fossil-Free Plastics Plant in China
chinadaily.com.cnSwiss company Vioneo is investing 1.5 billion euros to establish the first industrial plant producing fossil-free polyethylene and polypropylene. The facility will use green methanol and renewable electricity to replace traditional oil-based feedstocks, aiming to cut carbon emissions by 1.5 million metric tons annually. The project aligns with China's 15th Five-Year Plan, which prioritizes green chemicals and industrial decarbonization. By locating production near green methanol sources, Vioneo aims to reduce costs and accelerate the transition to sustainable plastics for the Asian market.
