VinEnergo, the renewable energy arm of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, has partnered with Philippine solar developer SunAsia Energy to build a 420 MWp floating solar portfolio in the Philippines. The three projects, located in Pampanga and Negros Occidental, are set for commissioning in 2027-2028 with a total investment of $406 million. They will use solar-on-stilts technology, allowing electricity generation to coexist with aquaculture. Once operational, the portfolio is expected to power about 278,000 households annually and cut carbon emissions by over 460,000 tons per year. The projects will also require around 62 km of new transmission lines. This deal is part of VinEnergo's broader plan to develop 100 GW of renewable capacity globally over three years, with 3.8 GW targeted for the Philippines through multiple partnerships.
